One of the great things we have been able to at the Transhuman House is the building of a Transhuman Art Collection. While some are prints a lot of it is original works of art. A lot of the work is also digital and I wanted to showcase some of my favorite bits of art and the artists. If you’d like your art showcased at the Transhuman House or contribute in any way reach out to us. Let’s start with one of my favorite artists Mr. Flox.
I worked with Shane Flox while he worked with some of the startups associated with Hall Labs (a VC firm). you can see him chilling below one of the paintings he did working at one of those firms. Initially on loan to the Transhuman House but later acquired the art as large paintings on display in public areas that the facility. Both paintings are below and the first one you can see the face of ‘God’ in the painting.
One of the interesting points is that Shane used the paintings as the source of various digital part pieces used for blogs and other media generation and you can see some of that digital art below.

We had another art piece acquired by the Transhuman House is great oil relief called ‘Worlds Without End’ by the Artist Karl Hale. Karl is a local to the Transhuman House member of the MTA (Mormon Transhumanist Association). His work is on display in a number of galleries and we are pleased to have this sort of Transcendent art showcased at the Transhuman House. His work is unique in that is it is cut into wood relief and oil on top. you really need to experience this art in person.
Karl’s says about the work:
“Circle Packing is a mathematical playground where the most foundational known shape (the circle) is organized based on simple rules. In this world, your size is an afterthought; rather, your relationships with your neighbors drive everything. In this piece, every circle, with the exception of the boundary circles, has 6 neighbors; it is, at its root, a simple honeycomb. The flow of lines through the piece and the dramatic variation in the size of each circle come entirely from the variation in a number of neighbors of each boundary circle.
Worlds Without Number is my first circle packing. It explores the many possibilities of worlds, whether light-years away or under our feet; the worlds of our universe, the worlds of our neighborhoods, or the worlds inside each one of us. In every case, the individual influences the whole and the beauty of the whole depends on the harmony of each individual.
This piece is 26 inches in diameter and 3/4 of an inch thick.”

Marquiz worked with Shane above and is a member of the foundation and is also local to the Transhuman House. His work tends to be in video and character art and more of the deviant art UX type of designer that includes some digital works such as the Long Long Now digital painting above. Daniel Garret Kelley
Daniel is a sketch artist from Seattle doing 3d materials sculpture and transhumanist cartoons now and then. His art is more electric then the typical stuff at the transhuman art collection but dives into more of the culture with Cartoons and other sketch art (see example above). An example of his eclectic art pieces includes this box below:
The Apotheosis of Washington is the fresco painted by Greek-Italian artist Constantino Brumidi in 1865 and visible through the oculus of the dome in the rotunda of the United States Capitol Building. The fresco is suspended 180 feet (55 m) above the rotunda floor and covers an area of 4,664 square feet (433.3 m2). The figures painted are up to 15 feet (4.6 m) tall and are visible from the floor below. The dome was completed in 1863, and Brumidi painted it over the course of 11 months at the end of the Civil War. He was paid $40,000 ($639,478 in today’s funds) for the fresco.
Brumidi had worked for three years in the Vatican under Pope Gregory XVI, and served several aristocrats as an artist for palaces and villas, including the prince Torlonia. He immigrated to the United States in 1852, and spent much of the last 25 years of his life working in the Capitol. In addition to The Apotheosis of Washington he designed the Brumidi Corridors.
One print from the movie Jupiter Ascending is framed in the main suite that really showcases the extreme far future and the wondering of things to come or the hope of it. This shot of this just unbelievably ornate ship is both beautiful and inspiring. You can see the placement below in the room and this is a print on canvas.
a few of the other prints include some of the instrument collection items just being mounted or are unnamed prints that were donated and we know little about them other then they add to the decor. This prints risk being replaced by more original art though. If you know of a great piece we should have in the collection send us a note.
