NFC at the Transhuman House

At the Transhuman House and the Library NFC is used to launch digital bits of information.  For example, there is the picture of the Internal in the main room and on the picture, there is an NFC chip that when scanned opens up a web page to the interval on the Long Now.  All throughout the displays are NFC chips and QR codes that launch informational pages about the topic in which they are labeled or applied.

Near-field communication (NFC) is a set of communication protocols that enable two electronic devices, one of which is usually a portable device such as a smartphone, to establish communication by bringing them within 4 cm (1.6 in) of each other. (see wiki )

Currently, in the Transhuman House there are 3 types of NFC chips including a couple implants on the wall but generally, the NFC includes links to research or information on local groups and other cool things of interest that are on display in the visitor area of the home.
